White cypress-pine Callitris columellaris
Also known as: Murray River cypress-pine, northern cypress-pine, coast cypress-pine, Bribie Island pine
C. columellaris is a small coniferous tree native to Australia. It grows to about 10 m high and is found in coastal regions of the continent, growing on sandy and rocky soils. The trees are very resistant to termite attacks and fungal decay, but extremely flammable. White cypress-pine has been harvested for its resin, tannin, and medicinal properties, as well as for use in construction, furniture and fencing. Its IUCN Red List status is “Lower risk/least concern.”
